The Diligence Sheet
The exposure scan, as a worksheet. Twelve questions, answerable from the public record in an afternoon, scored against the record rather than against the applicant.
Macro-free, works in Excel and LibreOffice. Drops straight into a committee pack. Nothing is sent anywhere.
What it scores
Twelve answers, each carried by the Key tab and scored 0 to 3, summed to an exposure out of 33. The bands:
| Band | Exposure |
|---|---|
| Thin record | 22 or more |
| Partial record | 11 to 21 |
| Record holds | 10 or fewer |
Unknown is a real answer and it scores. Unanswered questions score nothing.
Who it is for
The seat that carries the asset after close, and the practitioner preparing the file that seat will have to defend. Every question asks what the record holds, and every answer names the document, section and page it was found on: a completed sheet reads as findings, with the record attached.
The sheet names no firm and asks nothing about you. It scores the file.
The companion
For an interactive run of the same twelve questions, answer by answer with the reasoning shown, use The Pre-Close Exposure Scanner. This sheet is the version that lives where the memo is written.
